Hydrate the Homeless
Our founder, Patricia McCreary, is committed to providing a long-term, full-service solution to the crisis in elderly and disabled care. Please watch this video and stay tuned for details on a self-contained community that will meet the complete needs of our underserved in Kansas City.
MARGARET BROWN LEGACY FUND
The majority of our participants are Medicaid-eligible. However, we have many in our local community who do not qualify for Medicaid and are so income-challenged that they struggle with paying for prescription medications and basic needs. Your financial contributions make it possible to offer the Margaret’s Place experience to an elderly or disabled person who does not have the means to participate. Please contact Patricia McCreary to discuss your planned giving.
ADOPT A SCHOOL
Every year since we opened our doors, Margaret’s Place has helped a local charter school bless students during the holidays. We provide 1-2 gifts for each child and dinner boxes for 60-80 families, using Harvester’s families-in-need list.
ADOPT A SENIOR
Our senior and disabled population is largely underserved. The culture at Margaret’s Place is to provide whatever is needed. To this end, we adopt several individuals each year and gift them with 10 things they need and 10 things they want. We do this during the holiday season and have a big celebration. Our adopted seniors and their “sponsors” find this program very rewarding. We’d love to welcome you as a sponsor.
HYDRATE THE HOMELESS
Margaret’s Place partners with local non-profits during the summer months to deliver water to the homeless. We drive our bus around KC and deliver water, sunscreen and lip balm to homeless camps. Our volunteers also walk through streets and get cold water in the hands of homeless people. Cases of water, sunscreen, lip balms, and granola bars are always needed and we love our volunteers.
Do you love writing? Do you love brightening someone’s day? Margaret’s Place has the perfect volunteer opportunity for you! We’d love to connect you with one of our participants. They love getting handwritten notes and look forward to meeting their pen pals in person.
At 10am we offer an hour long church service. We open with gospel songs, pray for guidance, read from Our Daily Bread, discuss the reading and reflect on its meaning, and close in prayer. Guest pastors, choral groups and singers, and those who enjoy leading others in prayer are always welcomed. Please contact Margaret’s Place so we can add you to our monthly calendar.
Do you have a green thumb or enjoy gardening? Working alongside our program participants will be a fun and rewarding experience where you can literally see the fruits of your labor.
Do you enjoy helping people feel special and have a heart for the elderly? Sit down and play a game, eat lunch, or just get to know someone. The rewards are extraordinary.
